Bob Faehn is the owner and manager of KXLG. Bob’s radio career started in Watertown in 1984 with KSDR Radio. He eventually became the station’s owner, and added KS93 in 1990. He sold those stations in 2000, worked in Sioux Falls radio in 2001 and 2002, and founded KXLG in 2009. He was named as South Dakota’s Broadcaster of the Year in 1994, and received the Tom Brokaw award for distinguished service to South Dakota Broadcasting in 2012.
Bob’s list of community involvement is long, including such things as being President of the Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce, President of the Watertown United Way, President of the South Dakota Broadcasters Assn., and as a member of the SD State House of Representatives, where he was the House Majority Leader his final two years. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Prairie Lakes Hospital, and Watertown Community Foundation.
Bob is a native of the Florence/Wallace area, and along with his wife, Susie, have two children and five grandchildren.
KXLG’s David J. Law is a lifelong resident of South Dakota and a 1966 Gary High School and 1970 SDSU graduate.
David started his broadcast career in 1971 in Watertown and has been here ever since. He’s also the 1994 recipient of the South Dakota Broadcaster’s Association’s Tom Brokaw Award and was the 2004 South Dakota Broadcaster of the year.
Dave has served on numerous boards and commissions including the South Dakota Broadcasters Association and South Dakota Educational Telecommunications Commission. Most recently he was inducted into the South Dakota Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame where he was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement award for his participation in and promotion of Rock and Roll music in South Dakota.
Dean Johnson is a graduate of Milbank High School and SDSU. Following graduation, Dean taught biology and coached wrestling for 5 years in Pierre. In 1976, he moved to Watertown to work for Sorenson Broadcasting and has been in the radio business ever since.
Dean has been married to his wife, Diane, since 1971 and they have two children, Jessica and Scott. Jessica and her husband, Jon Benson, have two kids, Gabe and Nora, and live in Fargo, ND while Scott and his wife, Angie, also have two kids, Grant and Quinn, and live in Sioux Falls.
Dean is currently a Board Member of Jenkins Living Center and has been for the past 20 years. He also is a past Board Member of the Watertown Chamber of Commerce and has also served on multiple boards for the Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Watertown.
In his spare time, Dean loves to travel as well as be with his family and grandchildren.
Carol Zillgitt is a veteran in the advertising and marketing industry with nearly 25 years of print, television and radio experience.
Carol has been active in her community and Vintiques Car Club and is very active in the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Throughout the years, Carol has served on many committees and boards and participated in many organizations such as Conventions and Visitors Bureau, Junior Achievement, United Way, Chamber of Commerce Marketing Committee & State Committee Woman for the Republican Party of Codington County.
Jim Aesoph is Watertown’s most well-known “Morning Man” after spending 30 years on morning radio in Watertown. Jim has become well-known for some of his on-air creations like “The Dakota Call”, which earned him the prestigious A.H. Pankow Award from the SD Department of Tourism. Jim was also named South Dakota’s Broadcaster of the Year in 1992. Jim and his wife Brenda have four children, and 5 grandchildren.
Mary Neuroth has been with KXLG since 2009 and is a Certified Radio Marketing Consultant with more than 15 years radio experience. She graduated from the University of South Dakota with a BS in communications/PR advertising
Mary’s community involvement includes being a past board member of the Watertown Community Recreation Center, actively participated in Watertown United Way campaign, having served on the committee for the promotion of Watertown, SD and volunteering with the Redlin Art Center Annual Event.
She has also served on a state level with SD Governors Invitational Pheasant Hunt and SD Governors Buffalo Round-Up. For over 5 years Mary has had the opportunity to work with the SD Department of Tourism.
Melissa Herrboldt is the Promotions Director and Part Time Sales Associate for KXLG but also gets to help out in many other areas here at the station.
Melissa grew up in Webster, SD and graduated from Webster High School. She then furthered her education at Lake Area Technical Institute with a degree in Marketing/Management/Sales.
Melissa has been in radio since the start of her joining KXLG in August 2009 with 1 year prior experience in radio. She has lived in Watertown since 2002 with her husband, Jeremy, and are proud parents to their daughter Ava and son Brody. Her hobbies include spending time with her family and friends, as well as decorating and going to concerts.
Jan Robson grew up on a dairy farm near Revillo and Gary, South Dakota and graduated from Grant-Deuel high school in Revillo. After graduation she attended Brown Institute in Minneapolis and obtained a degree in Broadcasting. Since then, Jan has worked in the broadcast industry for over 30 years, both on air and behind the scenes.
She is married to Don Robson, who owns Business Telephone Company in Watertown. They have two children, Jon and Katie, who both graduated from Watertown High School. Jon lives in Minneapolis, MN and works in the field of graphic and web design and Katie lives in Omaha, NE and is working in the hospitality field.
Don Egert was born and raised in Watertown, graduating from Watertown High School and the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. He served as an officer. in the Signal Corp and following his service in the military, along with his partners, was a builder and co-owner of an Am and FM station in Ortonville Minnesota. His first radio job was in Watertown with subsequent positions at KSOO in Sioux Falls, KUSD in Vermillion, KYNT in Yankton and KDIO in Ortonville.
For over 30 years he has done voice-over work for Pioneer Public Television in Appleton Minnesota. He returned to Watertown and for three and a half years at KWAT, prior to his association with KXLG-FM. He works mainly in the news area as an assistant at KXLG. Don and his late wife Sally, have two grown sons, Steven and James, along with two grandsons, Mitchell and Jack.
Katie Hansen has been with KXLG since September of 2009 and is the 2pm to 7pm on air person Monday through Friday. Katie got her start in radio in Alexandria, Minnesota on KXRA and KSTQ. Katie attended her first year of College at St. Benedict’s and second year at South West State in MN.
She is the proud mother of four girls and a very proud grandmother. In her spare time, Katie loves fishing, fishing, fishing and… fishing.
Cheryl Hohn is a part of the KXLG Sales Team and works with the communities of
Webster, Clear Lake, Clark, Florence, Henry and Watertown. Cheryl is married to
Rick Hohn, who is the Business Manager of the Watertown School District; they
have 2 daughters: Chantel – married to Taylor Luke living in Stillwater, MN along
with granddaughter, Ryin; and Shuree married to Will Mortenson living in Pierre.
In her free time, Cheryl enjoys golf, traveling and pheasant hunting with their
chocolate lab, Rylee.
Tim Williams is a comedian, writer, ice cream enthusiast and KXLG announcer! A Watertown native, Tim lived on both coasts while making The Whitest Kids U’ Know, a sketch comedy TV show that aired on IFC for 5 years.
You can find the sketches all over YouTube but some of them are dirty so be careful. Tim loves being a part of the best radio station in the galaxy! You can hear him on weekends and sporadically throughout the week! Thank you for reading this.
Robbyn Gauger-Givens grew up in Clear Lake, SD and went on to graduate from Concordia College-Moorhead, MN with a degree in Communications with a music minor.
She has enjoyed more than 30 years of working in some form of communications, whether it be radio broadcasting, advertising or marketing. Robbyn currently serves full-time as the Worship & Music Coordinator at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer and is fortunate to keep her hands in radio as a part-time announcer with KXLG.
Robbyn has been married to her husband, Ron, for more than 25 years and proudly have two grown sons, Prescott and Darian.
Lori (Dailey) Koehn has been with the KXLG family since July 2011 and has worked for radio stations in Watertown, SD since 1994.
Lori and her husband, Rich, have two grown boys who both graduated from Watertown High School. In her spare time, Lori enjoys being with her family and spending time with friends camping and boating.
